What We Do

Rotaract International Service focuses on involvement and volunteering for international needs. Here is what we do.

Child Sponsorship: Last year we decided to select a child in need to sponsor. We fundraise money for the selected child so that it may help the, through school and daily life challenges. The child we selected is a little boy from Guatemala named Jonatan.

International Service Trip: Each year we go to a selected country and assist an organization to help a family or community in need. The International Service trip creates deep understanding and passion for people in need outside of the U.S. Our involvement in International Service draws attention to the challenges that we don't see on a regular basis in the U.S.

Other Events: Each year we strive to find other ways to be involved in International Service even if it is from here in Michigan. We create events that spread awareness and collect donations for other organizations helping those in need all around the world. A few examples of this is our support and donations towards De La Gente Coffee who supports families in poverty with stable jobs in the coffee industry. Another example is through Grace English School in Guatemala. Each week, people are able to volunteer an hour of their time to video chat with children in Guatemala in efforts of teaching them english. These children are from families in poverty who may not be able to afford english lessons for their children.

International Service Commitee: The International Service Committee is comprised of other Rotaractors who have passion for International Service. We focus on fundraising for the International Service Trip as well as finding ways to expand our international involvement from home and drawing awareness to issues and people in need outside the U.S.
